They were held last night and taken to a south London police station for questioning.

One man, 21, remains in custody while an 18-year-old and another man, 19, have been bailed to a date in early April.

Murder detectives have also revealed they are urgently looking for a grey BMW 318 with the registration number YE55 MZY.

Det Insp David Suddick, who is leading the investigation, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or come across this vehicle.

“There is a possibility that it may have been parked up or abandoned in the Streatham area.”

The 21-year-old victim was crossing Old Street near the junction with Vince Street with another pedestrian, a 20-year-old man, when they were hit by a car just after 4am.

Police and ambulance crews were called and the 21-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. His friend suffered minor injuries.

Murder detectives are continuing to analyse CCTV and make enquiries to establish what happened.

Scotland Yard is not releasing details of the car, which did not stop at the scene and has not been recovered.

A Met spokeswoman said the 21-year-old victim’s next of kin have been told of his death and a post-mortem will be arranged in due course.

Det Insp David Suddick of the Homicide and Major Crime Command is leading the investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information should call the incident room at Barking on 020 8345 3985 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
