Police are investigating an alleged rape by the Woodberry Wetlands nature reserve in Finsbury Park.

The incident was reported to police at 1.50am today and a female victim is being supported by specially trained officers, according to Scotland Yard.

A crime scene has been put in place near New River Way, while officers from the Met’s child abuse and sexual offences command investigate.

Part of Woodberry Grove has also been taped off by police officers and the main gate to the Woodberry Wetlands in Lordship Road is closed.

The London Wildlife Trust which runs the nature reserve tweeted: “Due to a police incident outside our main entrance, the main gate and the Coal House Café are closed to the public until further notice.

“The main part of the reserve is still open, and can be accessed via our east entrance on Newnton Close.”
