Sanchez Edwards has been charged with the robbery and grievous bodily harm of a 92-year-old woman in Hoxton.

Edwards, 28, was arrested on July 10 in Mile End, east London, after becoming the prime suspect for attacking the woman a fortnight previously on June 27.

The recently-widowed victim had just popped out to post a letter and was headed to the Lawson Medical Centre off Hoxton Street when she was attacked from behind in the grounds.

Edwards appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Wood Green Crown Court on August 15.
