A kebab shop delivery driver was knocked off his moped in a hit and run in full view of police officers.
The 40-year old man was on a shift for Super Ocakbasi when he was struck outside the restaurant in Stoke Newington Road at the corner of Farleigh Road just after 8pm on Friday night.
The London Ambulance Service treated the man as he lay in the middle of the road and took him to an east London hospital.
He was later released with minor injuries.
Witnesses described seeing a silver VW Golf GTI collide with the man before driving off at speed.
The vehicle was later recovered in Wordsworth Road, Stoke Newington.
Rose Hall, who saw the collision, said: “The car came round the corner, hit the motorbike, and then carried on driving for a little bit, pushing him along the road.”
She continued: “The car then just sped off. It didn’t stop.”
Another witness, who did not want to be named, said: “The guy hit him and he didn’t stop. Two policemen were even there. They were walking down the road and they saw this. When he hit the guy, instead of stopping, he pushed the car, swerved and then just ran away.”
Police confirmed there was a “fail to stop collision”.
No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
Investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident.
Witnesses should call 101 quoting reference 4630158/13 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
