A rapist has been jailed for attacks on sex workers in Lordship Park, Stoke Newington.

Alex Humphreys, 42, of Hampden Road, Grays, Essex, picked up the 35-year old woman, a sex worker, in his car after agreeing a price to have sex.

Humphreys then drove them to a secluded car park nearby where he began to physically and verbally abuse the woman before raping her.

He was identified from DNA evidence recovered at the scene and pleaded guilty to attacking another sex worker in that same area within three weeks of this rape.

With the continued support of the Open Doors, a NHS funded partnership that supports sex workers in Hackney and the City, both victims attended trial and gave evidence at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

Humphreys was found guilty of rape on August 1, and on Friday September 13 he was sentenced to seven years at Snaresbrook Crown Court for the rape of a woman in Lordship Park, Stoke Newington in February 2011.

Detective Constable Kath Watson from the Sexual Offences Exploitation and Child Abuse Command said: “Alex Humphreys is a dangerous rapist who targeted sex workers in London.

“I would like to praise both victims for reporting this to the police and thank Open Doors for assisting in supporting the victims throughout the criminal justice process.”
