Police seized more than £2,500 worth of stolen goods from rogue market traders who had set up shop in Kingsland Road.
A haul of 20 bags was taken in the operation at the end of last month, including six bags of games consoles, bike parts and counterfeit tobacco.
Cops worked with Hackney Council to target the traders, who had set up illegal “fly pitches” – meaning they were operating without a licence.
Five people were also arrested on the day.
Kim Wright, director of neighbourhoods at the town hall, said: “Fly traders selling goods on the street without a licence not only create obstructions for pedestrians but also create unfair competition to legitimate traders and local businesses.
“We are working with the police to tackle fly trading in Hackney to instil customer confidence and create a fairer market for our legitimate traders.”
