Detectives have not ruled out gang warfare after a woman and two men were shot in their legs at a private party.

Detectives have not ruled out gang warfare after a woman and two men were shot in their legs at a private party.

Police were called at 5.20am on Saturday to the crowded function hall in Homerton High Street where a party and barbeque were being held.

A 33-year old woman and two men aged 24 and 26 had been shot in their legs.

They all made their own way to hospital where they remain, but one of the men’s injuries is though to be potentially life changing.

Det Insp Gary Moncrieff, investigating officer from Trident Gangs Command tackling gun crime, said at least two guns were fired.

“The individuals who committed this crime discharged firearms in the midst of a crowded party with no regard for the safety of those around them,” he said.

“Obviously something like that is traumatic to anyone.

“We are not ruling out the possibility that it’s gang related, but at this early stage the motive is unclear, and we are keeping an open mind,” he added.

“Subsequent investigation reveals a lot of people at the event were from the South London area.”

They are appealing to anyone who was at the party to come forward.

“The MPS Trident Gang Command are committed to bringing individuals to justice who commit this type of crime, but we cant do this without the help of the community,” said DI Moncrieff.

“If you were there or you know anything about this incident please contact police.

“I would like to reassure any potential witness who may be worried about making contact with the police that Trident has extensive experience in protecting witnesses, and there are a range of measures that can be taken to protect you.”

Anyone who was at the party or who has information about the incident is asked to call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
