A 14-year old girl has pleaded guilty to possession of a loaded revolver after police officers found it in her wardrobe.
The teenager - who cannot be named for legal reasons - admitted at Stratford Youth Court on Thursday last week to possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.
She has been referred to the youth offending team for six months.
Officers from the Trident Gang Crime Command North East proactive team found the weapon after conducting a search warrant at a home in Waterloo Close, Homerton on Wednesday last week.
The address lies just 300m from where 19-year old university student Joseph Burke-Monerville was fatally shot in the head just over a week ago.
