Another man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, following a fatal stabbing in Jessam Avenue, Upper Clapton.

Police were called to a flat in Lea View House, Jessam Avenue, on Saturday May 4, where they found James Sweeney, 30, a shop worker originally from Montserrat, suffering from stab wounds.

Mr Sweeney, who lived in the building, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem gave the cause of death as stab wounds to the chest and abdomen.

On May 8 Detectives charged Jeremy Lewis, 29, Collinson Court, Generals Walk, Enfield, with the murder of Mr Sweeney.

He appeared at Redbridge Magistrates’ Court the following day and has been remanded in custody.

A 22-year old man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

A further two men - a 45-year old and a 21-year old - were arrested following the incident on suspicion of murder and have been bailed to return pending further inquiries.
