The daughter of the man killed after a fight in a Clapton bookmakers’ last week said he was a “big friendly giant”.
Babatunde Adepetun, known as Bobby Awofeso, died after an altercation broke out in Betfred on Wednesday last week.
Cops were called just before 4.30pm and 53-year-old Bobby, who lived in nearby Lea View House, was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem began last week and is ongoing.
Colleen Marlow, one of eight children of Bobby’s, told the Gazette: “It’s so horrible. I don’t understand it. He was 6ft 4in but he was a charmer. He never smoked, never drank and never did drugs.
“He was old school, if somebody disrespected him he would tell them to have respect but he was not a person to be physical. My dad was like the BFG.
“He wasn’t a perfect dad but he found god and became a pastor. He was well known within the church and in the black community. The amount of people who have got in touch with me is crazy. I didn’t know how well known he was.”
A 26-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday has now been bailed until late April. City of London police are still investigating after offering to help the Met in the wake of a number of active murder investigations.
