A 16-year-old savagely beat a man with a baseball bat in a Hackney park during an attempted robbery.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted attempted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon at Wood Green Crown Court on Tuesday.
His victim, in his 30s, was left traumatised and nursing an arm fracture, but his attacker – who is now 17 – left empty-handed.
A spokesman for volunteer-run Jewish neighbourhood watch service Shomrim told the Gazette today: “The victim has since made a full recovery of the physical injuries, although emotional scars are something he’ll live with for the rest of his life.”
The attack happened in Springfield Park, near the victim’s home, on May 29 last year. The boy ran off but was tracked down by Shomrim volunteers and detained until the police arrived.
He will be sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court on March 17.
