A Dalston man has been jailed for breaching his Asbo after being found in possession of crack cocaine and in a part of the borough he was banned from.

Desmond Rodney, 38, was sentenced to 14 months in prison at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Thursday.

He was found guilty on November 17 of possession of a controlled drug, and threatening behaviour which placed him in breach of the anti-social behaviour order he had been given in February 2012.

Deputy Mayor, Cllr Sophie Linden, said: “By working with the police a violent man has been taken off the streets of Hackney.

The safety and quality of life of our residents is always our priority, and we will take action against people who engage in persistent anti-social behaviour and cause misery and distress to others. I hope that residents living in the area can now get the peace and quiet they deserve.”
