Customers watched programmes despite business not having a licence.

A FINSBURY Park bar has been fined hundreds of pounds after it was caught showing television programmes without a licence.

The N4 Wine Bar and Restaurant in Fonthill Road was fined 650 and told to pay 140 costs and a 15 victim surcharge at Haringey Magistrates Court.

In addition, managing director Samir Fridi was also fined 100, plus 60 costs and a 15 victim surcharge.

Any pub or bar which allows people to watch TV on the premises must be covered by a valid TV Licence.

If there is living accommodation on site where a TV is also in use, this must be covered by a separate licence.

Those without a valid licence are breaking the law and run the risk of a trip to court and a fine of up to 1,000 plus costs.
