Police unveil CCTV pictures of man they want to speak to in relation to sexual assault in Finsbury Park

A WOMAN was sexually assaulted in her own home by a thug who forced his way in and pushed her to the floor.

Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the assault in Finsbury Park.

The suspect, aged between 25 and 35, 5ft 11ins tall of medium build with short brown hair wearing jeans, a light shirt, light belt and light trainers followed the woman from Arsenal Underground Station in Gillespie Road, Finsbury Park, on Thursday May 13 at 12.20am.

He spoke with an English accent and later wore a zip up top.

The suspect followed the 28-year-old woman along Gillespie Road and Blackstock Road where he tried to begin a conversation with her.

As the victim reached her home in Mountgrove Road the brute forced his way in, threw the woman to the floor in her own hallway and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect left the home a short while later and headed back along Gillespie Road and into Arsenal Underground Station.

Detective Inspector Beverly Hawes, the investigating officer from the Sapphire unit based at Limehouse, said: “The victim suffered a terrible attack on her own doorstep.

“I urgently appeal to anyone who may recognise the man captured on CCTV, or has any information that can assist this investigation, to contact police.

“We would like to reassure the community that incidents of this nature are rare, but understandably can cause great concern.

“The Metropolitan Police takes all allegations of rape and sexual assault extremely seriously. The investigation into this incident continues, led by dedicated officers from the Metropolitan Police Service’s Sapphire command.”
