Three stabbings in as many days over the Christmas period have left two teenagers and a man in hospital.

Police officers ushered diners out of the Kingsland High Street McDonald’s at 9pm on Christmas Eve after a 15-year-old boy was knifed. Other diners set about stabilising the boy - who was lying on the floor in the middle of the restaurant in blood-soaked clothes - until paramedics arrived on the scene.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said the boy is now in a stable condition in hospital, and that “his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening”.

He added: “Detectives from Hackney CID are investigating and are trying to establish the scene of the assault.”

Shocked by-stander Patrick Venditti told the Gazette: “It is unreal. So pointless.”

A man in his 20s is still in hospital after being stabbed in Upper Clapton Road, near the junction with Mount Pleasant Lane, just after 1.30pm on Christmas Day.

His injuries are not life-threatening according to Scotland Yard.

And another 15-year-old boy was stabbed on Monday as shoppers were out bagging Boxing Day sale bargains.

Police were called at about 2.30pm to JD Sports in Mare Street.

Scotland Yard is waiting for an update on his condition.

No arrests have been made for any of the crimes.
