Police are investigating after a man reported being mugged in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).
The incident happened in Wilberforce Road at 1am as the man made his way home from a night out. He told police his mobile phone was stolen after he was struck from behind. He was taken to hospital with an eye wound, but a police spokesman said his injuries are not thought to be serious.
Part of the road, at the junction with Somerfield Road, was sealed off from about 10.30am until 11.30am to allow police to search the scene in daylight, but both roads have now been reopened.
