Hackney’s shoplifting hotspots have been revealed in a survey.
Shops around Mare Street’s Iceland and the the Narrow Way in central Hackney, along with the Kingsland Shopping Centre in Dalston have the highest amount of wares stolen, according to Met figures. Hackney has the eighth lowest shoplifitng rate in the capital based on the number of incidents as a percentage of the population, according to the study commissioned by LoveMyVouchers.co.uk.
Unsurprisingly Westminster and the busy Oxford Street shopping area had the highest shoplifting rate
Met figures show there were 644 thefts from shops in Hackney during the last financial year, down from 824 incidents the year before.
Figures nationally have risen by 7.6 per cent to 362,499 in 2016.
