A Homerton woman is accused of smuggling £400,000 worth of cocaine into the UK in a suitcase.
Roseanna Shakes, 56, of Coopersale Road appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court yesterday along with Karen Anderson, 49, of Enfield charged with importing a class A drug.
Border Force officers intercepted a suitcase containing 10 kilos of class A drugs at St Pancras International station on Tuesday after stopping two passengers who arrived on a train from Paris.
Border Force director David Smith said: “Working with law enforcement colleagues like the National Crime Agency (NCA) we are determined to prevent drug trafficking and bring those responsible to justice.”
Anderson and Shakes were granted bail by magistrates but the National Crime Agency appealed and a bail hearing will be held at Isleworth Crown Court on Monday.
