A 29-year-old was battered with a bicycle D-lock by a thug who stole his iPhone 4.
The victim, who was left with serious head injuries and bruising to his arm, was attacked as he walked home after a night out by a suspect who followed him along Kingsland Road, then assaulted him after he turned into Cremer Street, Hoxton, on Saturday, April 14, at about 4.30am.
Hackney Police are appealing for witnesses or information, and said the suspect was described as a black man, about 5ft 10in tall, with an athletic build and a round forehead and a pointed chin.
He was wearing a dark blue hooded top with wide white drawstrings coming from the hood, black tracksuit bottoms and dark trainers.
