Four people have been released under investigation after a gun and knife were found in the car they were travelling in.
The vehicle was stopped by Hackney’s task force in Mare Street early Friday morning, after it was spotted driving off at speed from traffic lights.
No charges have yet been made and the three men and one woman who were arrested have now been released from police custody.
A spokesman for the Met explained: “A lot of things need to be done with the gun and all sorts of tests will be going on. You need to prove what sort of firearm it is, and you will have to see if there is any forensic evidence that links any party to that weapon, or whether they have been involved in anything else.
“People might not necessarily say, “That’s my gun,” and unless you have it hard and fast there are a lot of enquiries that need to take place and it all takes time.”
