Terrified customers were evacuated from the Nike Hackney shop on Saturday afternoon when a fight broke out between two men.
A 25-year-old has been charged with a section 4 public order offence over the scrap in the Morning Lane outlet store. He will appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court next month.
Tracey Simpkins, who was shopping with her husband at the time, told the Gazette: “All off a sudden people started screaming and there was loads of loud noises coming from upstairs.
“As we walked up the stairs we could smell this awful smell and the shopkeeper was running around trying to get everybody out.”
Scotland Yard confirmed the incident was not an “acid attack” as feared by some customers.
