The man wanted by police over the chilling robbery of a 92-year-old woman in Hoxton has been arrested, Scotland Yard said.
Sanchez Edwards, 28, was arrested in Mile End, east London, just after midday on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and robbery.
He is currently in custody at an east London police station.
Paranoid schizophrenic Edwards had absconded while on unescorted leave from the John Howard Centre in May but no appeal was ever issued for his arrest. Police said he was deemed “medium risk”.
CCTV of the robbery showed the recently widowed pensioner being dragged along the road as she clung onto her handbag.
