Shots were fired during a fight between two gangs of youths in south Hackney last night (Tuesday).
A Hackney Police spokeswoman confirmed “ballistic material”, believed to be bullets or shells, was recovered at the scene in King Edward’s Road, near the junction with Shore Place after the incident at 7.10pm.
She said: “Witness reports suggested an altercation, involving up to 12 youths, had taken place and that this had led to one group throwing a bottle at the other.
“A number of shots were then heard and the youths made off in different directions, prior to police arrival. There were no reported injuries.”
The Trident Gangs unit is investigating, and witnesses should call officers on 0208 217 7355 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
