A 43-year-old Stamford Hill man has been jailed for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.

Angel Huberto Clavijo-Lopez, of Linthorpe Road, was locked up for four years at Wood Green Crown Court yesterday, having been found guilty earlier this month.

The assault took place in early 2016 at the victim’s home. Afterwards he threatened her and said what he had done should be kept as “their secret”.

Clavijo-Lopez will be deported when his sentence is up.

Det Insp Jimi Tele, from the Met’s child abuse and sexual offences unit, said: “This was an abhorrent crime against a young girl.

“Clavijo-Lopez has been held to account for his crimes, and I hope his sentence and indefinite placing on the sex offenders register demonstrates how seriously this crime type is taken.

“He will also be deported at the end of his sentence and I hope that this, along with his sentence, offers some comfort to the victim and her family.”

In addition to the jail time, Clavijo-Lopez was issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for an indefinite period and was placed on the sex offenders register for life.
