Three men were convicted for their parts in the murder and kidnap and of a Polish man from Stamford Hill yesterday .

Andrzej Kulesza, 27, had been involved in dealing amphetamines and cannabis and owed money to gang member Grzegorz Misiak. Misiak allegedly played a leading role in his murder but has since died in a car crash in Poland.

Mr Kulesza was kidnapped by a group of men after popping out to get some milk and bread at a local shop in Stamford Hill.

Evidence suggests that the kidnappers then took the victim to an address in Willesden where he was beaten with a metal bar, spat on and force-fed amphetamines and alcohol. He was ordered to do press-ups and when he couldn’t was beaten again.

In the early hours of September 21 it is believed that Artur Janik, Daniel Kosowski, Kamil Dreszer and another man collected the victim’s body and travelled to Northampton, where the body was found on April 25, 2011, before returning to London. A ligature was discovered around the neck area of the remains.

Before kidnapping Mr Kulesza, the group of men broke into his friend’s house who they beat up with a bicyle lock and knocked out two of his teeth. They then stole the friend’s mobile and called two other associates to find out his wherabouts and used it to draw him out from his home address.

After the kidnapping Mr Kulesza’s girlfriend was told he had been kidnapped and was asked to pay a ransom. She was called by her boyfriend, who pleaded with her to help him and provide cash. He was crying and screaming and said his kidnappers were threatening to kill him.

His girlfriend borrowed £300 from a friend and handed over the cash to another man at a rendezvous point.

Promises were made that Mr Kulesza would be released but more demands for cash were then made. Another £500 was demanded but then the calls abruptly ended.

Investigating officer Det Ch Insp Andy Chalmers, of the homicide and serious crime command unit, said: “The three defendants, seeking revenge for a debt, kidnapped and tortured the victim before dumping his body in a remote location, presumably imagining it would never be found.

“They acted in an appalling manner and one can only imagine the physical and emotional trauma Andrzej suffered during the hours he was held captive. I am satisfied at today’s convictions.”

Dreszer, 27, of Greenhill Park, Willesden and was found guilty of murder, kidnapping, false imprisonment and preventing the lawful burial and disposal of a corpse.

Janik, 27, of Willowmead Close, Woking was found guilty of manslaughter, kidnapping, false imprisonment and preventing the lawful burial and disposal of a corpse.

Kosowski, 40, of Henry Adlington Close, Beckton, was found guilty of preventing the lawful burial and disposal of a corpse.

The three are due to be sentenced at the Old Bailey today.
