A former Dalston schoolteacher who gave up his job to pursue artistic dreams has his work featured in an art fair until Monday.

Upcoming artist Michael Worobec created the brightly coloured masterpieces which were chosen to form part of The Other Art Fair in his Hackney Wick studio.

He briefly taught textiles and art and textiles at Kingsland Secondary School, and helped get it out of special measures, before it closed in 2003.

The Edinburgh-born painter then went on to become Head of Art at an East Finchley comprehensive school for six years until he left in 2010 to become a full-time professional artist.

Mr Worobec explained that he gave up his teaching job to return to his first love: painting.

He said: “After many years working with challenging children I decided to put all my energies into my creativity.”

Prints of Mr Worobec’s paintings sell for 90 upwards.

The Other Art Fair links buyers with unsigned talented artists and runs from 11am to 6pm (8pm tonight/ Friday) until Monday at P3 Ambika, Marylebone Road. Entry is by ticket, available at www.theotherartfair.com
