Mildmay Community Nursery in Mildmay Park were given £200 from the Sainsbury’s Essex Road community budget last month.

Since receiving the donation, the not-for-profit nursery has created an entire “instrument table”.

Manager, Danielle Byrne, said: “We have drums, African drums, maraccas, a xylophone, triangles, you name it.”

She added: “We are very happy and very pleased and thankful for all of the support, particularly from the Essex Road branch.”

Mildmay is a registered charity and relies on grants and donations such as this one which they applied for with help from Saninsbury’s Essex Road manager Mark Stringer.

He said: “We have been linked to the nursery since the start of 2014 when we joined forces during the 2014 active kids campaign.

“The guys were desperate for a donation to help buy some musical instruments for the children, with the ambition to hold a short performance for their parents.”
