Children have celebrated moving into their new state-of-the-art school – complete with rooftop play area.

Pupils at Holy Trinity Primary in Dalston have been taught in the nearby Dalston Methodist Centre for two years while their new school was built.

The development has seen 101 flats built above the school, which has doubled in size. Pupils now have access to a running track, a games area and even a rock climbing wall – all one the roof.

Bishop of London Richard Chartes joined a 100-strong crowd at the opening.

Headteacher Yvonne Barnett said: “We are looking forward to providing the best opportunities for our community, and to welcoming more pupils to our school.
