Singers, poets, comedians, impressionists and a hula-hoop artist showcased Hackney's emerging talents at Dalston's Arcola Theatre - and raised more than £1,000 for brain injury charity Headway.
The show was organised by Talia Jordan, 20, whose aunt is supported by Headway’s Kingsland Road branch. “It was such a lovely turn-out and a really good evening,” she said. “It was good to tell more people about Headway as it’s not a mainstream charity.”
The show, on February 19, also featured a raffle with prizes from local businesses, such as Dalston Square’s Café Route and Caribbean restaurant Rudie’s.
Simon, a firefighter who volunteers at Headway, said: “Events like this increase the connection and community spirit between the people who live and work in Dalston.”
