A “dangerous” dog was tasered and put in a wheelie bin by police after it bit a woman in Stoke Newington on Sunday afternoon.
Police had been called to reports of “two dogs dangerously out of control” in Osbaldeston Road where one of them had bitten the woman’s leg in a seemingly random attack just before 2pm.
A witness, Ben Stewart, posted on Twitter that he had heard a police officer say through his radio: “I’ve tasered the dog. I’ve trapped it in the bin.”
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Officers attended the scene and both dogs were detained.
“Due to the aggressive nature of one of the dogs, it was tasered to bring it under control.
“Both dogs will be taken to kennels – the dog that was tasered has been taken for assessment by a vet.
“The female owner of both dogs has been identified and spoken to. She has not been arrested.”
