Hackney residents are invited to have their say about policing when London’s Deputy Mayor for policing and crime, Stephen Greenhalgh, comes to the Town Hall next month.

Mr Greenhalgh will visit every London borough with senior Met police officers this year to discuss policing and how the Mayor of London’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) plan is being put into practice.

As part of the plans which were introduced last year to make £500 million of cuts by 2015, Hackney Central police station in Lower Clapton Road closed, the opening hours of Shoreditch Police Station were cut and each of the borough’s 19 safer neighbourhood teams were be reduced to one sergeant, one PC and one PCSO.

The event takes place at Hackney Town Hall in Mare Street on Thursday February 6 at 6.30pm.

Attendance is on a first come, first serve basis and people must register online to confirm attendance at www.london.gov.uk/get-involved/events/sign-up-to-attend-mopac-roadshow-event.
