East End innovators were showcased at the Olympic Park’s tech hub Here East this week.
The East London Innovators initiative highlights the work being done throughout the campus.
Among the role models being honoured are Hackney Wick FC founder Bobby Kasanga, who works to keep kids away from crime, and Cemal Ezel, founder of Change Please – the coffee group combatting homelessness.
Other leaders from disruptive businesses, non-profits and education and youth projects are also involved in the project after being selected by judges. The campaign includes a report on each of the 50 Innovators, an exhibition at Here East and a series of community engagement projects throughout the year.
Here East CEO Gavin Poole said: “We launched the East London Innovators campaign to draw attention to these individuals throughout east London who are making huge contribution to the business and culture of the surrounding boroughs and beyond – and who are using their skills, knowledge and passion to solve real life problems.
“We had a huge number of applications and these finalists were chosen based on collaboration, community and impact.”
