Comedian Eddie Izzard and Labour’s mayoral candidate Ken Livingstone surprised BSix students when they turned up for an unannounced question and answer session last Wednesday.
The pair arrived at the sixth form college in Kenninghall Road by bus from Finsbury Park, where they had launched Ken’s Fairer Fares campaign opposing Boris Johnson’s latest hike in public transport prices.
Ken was dealt an avalanche of questions from the highly-engaged audience including how he would have dealt with the riots had he been Mayor.
He said he would have ensured he was on the ground listening to communities and demanding action of the Met asking “how many are you mobilising?”
“By the third night they had 16,000 out and that was the end of it,” he said.
