A parents group from a Hackney Wick primary school put their creative hats on to design a fantasy room.
The Friends of Gainsborough School (FrOGS) redesigned a former nursery room at the school in Berkshire Road to stimulate children’s imaginations and help them with their literacy as part of World Book Day.
The space featured a wardrobe leading to another part of the room, graphics projected on the wall, sound and lights.
Office manager Steven Smith said: “The idea was that the teachers bring them in groups. Outside the room, there’s a bag of props such as wands and hats. The teacher then takes them into a room with whatever props they have and the children go back to class and make up their story based on the fantasy room. “All the kids enjoyed the room and dressed up in outfits last Friday to celebrate World Book Day.”
More than 500 children and teachers dressed up to mark World Book Day.
