Skulduggery Pleasant, Gandalf and the cast from The Great Gatsby made an appearance as youngsters dressed up as their favourite book characters today, for World Book Day at De Beauvoir School.

Children from the school in Tottenham Road performed short plays from their favourite books from their parents, with choices ranging from the classic poem The Highwayman in the upper school to Michael Rosen’s We’re Going On A Bear Hunt by tots in Year 1.

Pupils also visited Stoke Newington bookshop to choose books to take home, on the day which celebrates authors, illustrators, books and reading, which is marked in over 100 countries all over the world.
