Hackney pupils met Prime Minister David Cameron at the Lord Mayor’s Banquet on Monday night.
The students from City Academy in Homerton Row played in a band at the Guildhall welcoming the arrivals of distinguished guests as they were greeted by the new Lord Mayor, Alderman Fiona Woolf.
Guests included the Chinese, Korean, Greek and Turkish ambassadors and ministers of state Theresa May and Chris Grayling, alongside the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby and the Prime Minister himself.
Alderman Fiona Woolf was elected on September 30 as the 686th Lord Mayor of the City of London to serve as the global ambassador for UK-based financial and business services from Friday 8 November.
She becomes only the second woman ever to hold the post in its 800-year history following in the footsteps of Mary Donaldson in 1983.
