Skinners’ Academy sixth formers ‘massively’ surpass expectations with A-level results

“Be the best you can” is the Skinners’ Academy motto – and the school’s headteacher believes this has been personified by the number of sixth form students who exceeded their expectations in their A-level results.

Highlights from the second cohort of the new sixth form students include 74per cent of candidates achieving above their target grades and 24 subjects being passed by all students.

Star performers include nine business BTEC students gaining the highest possible qualification – triple Distinction*.

The line-up is Owura Addai; Victor Dos Santos; Gokay Emre; Kevin Heredia Arango; Reinako Jones; Leonardo Reis; Anil Sasmaz; Sumayyah Shafi; and Emanoelle Volpato. Their destinations include Queen Mary University of London; University of Southampton and Lancaster University.

Top A-level students include Berfin Kama (AAA) and Armend Bajraktari (A*A*C) who will be studying economics with philosophy at the University of Leeds and architecture at Oxford Brookes, respectively.

Two of this year’s cohort are already on their post Skinners’ Academy sixth form journey, having started apprenticeships at Mediacom in July.

Tim Clark, principal at Skinners’ Academy, said: “Our new sixth form is going from strength to strength and we are pleased that the hard work and persistence of our Year 13s has resulted in progression onto some excellent UK universities, with some students having started quality apprenticeships.

“We wish them all the best for the future and encourage them to keep in touch. Some are already lined up to attend our careers fair in the autumn, to encourage current students to continue to ‘be the best they can’.”
