Hosted at trendy Shoreditch advertising agency Mother with entertainment ranging from juggling to an alternative catwalk show, the Hackney Community College annual student awards was a night to remember.

The awards recognised wide-ranging success, and celebrated the achievements and talents of students at the college in Falkirk Street.

Award winners, family, tutors, friends and VIP guests enjoyed food prepared and served by hospitality students and were wowed by showcases by performing arts and circus arts students, and an alternative ‘catwalk’ show featuring designs by fashion and textiles students.

Master of ceremonies, A-Level student Bola Ajenifuja, was assisted by Principal Ian Ashman, who welcomed guests.

London Assembly member Jennette Arnold spoke passionately about the college and its students while Dr Paul Brickell from the London Legacy Development Corporation and Gavin Poole from the awards’ core sponsor, creativity and innovation centre Here East, told guests about developing opportunities for work and training on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, which will include a new college centre: HCC on the Park.
