Food writer and TV presenter Rosie Birkett gave youngsters a cookery lesson and spoke about the importance of eating a nutritious breakfast each day - especially when they have exams.

The author of A Lot on Her Plate gave the advice to Year 6 pupils at Mandeville Primary School in Oswald Street, Lower Clapton, who will be sitting their SATs next month.

The event launched national charity Magic Breakfast’s “Fuel for SATs” campaign aimed at raising funds, educating schoolchildren about why breakfast is so important to eat before lessons and exams, and teaching pupils some healthy breakfast recipes.

Magic Breakfast gives 23,500 vulnerable children in 480 schools free, healthy breakfasts.
