Hackney youngsters dressed up as Fantastic Mr Fox, Mr Twit, Matilda and The BFG to celebrate the birthday of the treasured author Roald Dahl.
Every year children across the world celebrate the Dahl’s birthday on September 13, and this year Gainsborough Primary School decided to join in.
His characters came alive at the school in Berkshire Road, Hackney Wick, as children and staff competed for the best costume award, and children took part across the school in activities surrounding their chosen Roald Dahl novel.
Year one youngsters embarked on potion making to improve George’s marvellous medicine, and year four children made beards filled with disgusting elements that you might find in Mr Twit’s.
All money raised on the day was sent to the Roald Dahl’s Marvellous charity, which donates money for sick children to receive the highest quality care, advice and support.
