Turner Prize winning sculptor Antony Gormley’s model figures inspired young artists to come up with their own for an exhibition at their school.
Youngsters in Years 1 and 2 at Gayhurst Community Primary School made the clay figures in the art project about people who stand up for what they believe in.
They also took inspiration from Alexander Calder, Korean artist Do-Ho-Suh and African American artist and fashion designer Jae Jarrell, and learned about the historical and social importance of Suffragette Emily Davison and Rosa Parks and the civil rights movement in Alabama.
The works are on show until July 14 at The Art Gallery (#TAG) at the school in Gayhurst Road, London Fields, which is managed by Art Hoppers.
The art education organisation was commissioned by the school to help set up the gallery space in the standalone building last year, and then to deliver a year-long artist residency there.
