Hackney was top of the class nationally for GCSE results for “looked after children” in 2015.
The town hall’s children’s social care team helped 34.6 per cent of youngsters achieve five or more GCSEs, including English and Maths – smashing the national average of 12pc.
Hackney was also second in the country for any five GCSEs, with 38.5pc. The national average for that was 16.3pc.
