Youngsters and teachers at Nightingale Primary School dressed up as their favourite characters from Roald Dahl’s books today to commemorate 100 years since the author’s birth.
While some children picked out Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and George from George’s Marvellous Medicine, head teacher Abigail Hopper chose to dress up an the mean Miss Trunchball from Matilda.
She said: “Our children have been so creative with their costumes. It just goes to show how much they love Roald Dahl’s characters.
I have dressed up as my own favourite, Miss Trunchbull, but luckily I am not like her in real life.”
Money raised at the school in Rendlesham Road, Lower Clapton will benefit the Marvellous Children’s Charity, helping children with serious, rare and undiagnosed conditions.
