A £15 million special educational needs school called The Garden has now opened in Wordsworth Road, Stoke Newington.
Funded by the former government’s Building Schools for the Future programme, The Garden has been built on the site of the former Horizon primary school.
It boasts state of the art facilities with features including a splash pool, soft play rooms and a community café which will be run by older students.
Pupils from Downsview secondary school - which used to be in Downs Park Road, Hackney Downs - have been transferred to the site, meaning pupils at the 15-capacity school will not have to change schools once they reach secondary school age.
