School kids brought their male role models to class on Friday for a Father’s Day event.
The Male VIP day at Tyssen Community School in Oldhill Street, Stamford Hill saw more than 100 dads, grandads, uncles, brothers and family friends spend the day at school on Friday.
They had a barbeque, a contest to see who could make the tallest tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows, a mini sports day and, on a more serious note, gave inspirational speeches.
The aim of the day was to get more men involved in their children’s school lives. Dad-of-two Rankin Pachica, said: “The event was fantastic, it helped to foster camaraderie amongst parents and school personnel.”
Head Teacher Jackie Benjamin added: “When we decided to invite them we expected around 20 or so to turn up. We were absolutely delighted with the turnout. We will continue to find ways to include all parents and carers in the education of our pupils.”
