Youngsters from London Fields Primary School in Westgate Street have raised over £2,000 for children living in poverty in Sierra Leone.

The pupils smashed their initial target to raise £1,000 for Street Child, by organising events like cake and book sales and non-uniform days.

Teacher Mr Nedal said: “Every year we have a different campaign and it runs through different parts of the curriculum, we are wrapping it up before Easter, so the money can be used before the rainy season.

“It’s one of the poorest countries in the world and this is about getting children off the street.”
