Children explored a novel approach to love during a Valentine’s Day storytelling workshop.

About 25 Year 2 children from London Fields Primary School in Westgate Street took part in the session, which was organised by Rebel Rebel florist in Broadway Market.

During the workshop a professional storyteller and dramatist read out a story about children. with a theme of kindness. The youngsters were then asked to write their own stories about love, resulting in various anecdotes including an onion falling for a carrot.

The children were also asked to write a testimonial to someone they love and given a bunch of flowers each to give to someone or take home.

Rebel Rebel co-founder Mairead Curtin said: “We just wanted to find a different angle to do with Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day is normally all about red roses. Surely love is about loving all sorts of things or being kind. We approached London Fields School because the kids go past our shop and have a sniff of the flowers or come into the shop.

“A lot of the kids wrote testimonials to their best friends in class. They were really sweet kids and so incredibly well-behaved.”
