An acrobatic theatre company from Hackney has achieved worldwide recognition after a human pyramid fashion runway performance at the Dior haute couture show for Paris fashion week.

Creative director of the brand Maria Grazia Chiuri invited 18 women from the female group to take part in the spring-summer 2019 show.

Lina Johansson, artistic co-director of Mimbre, formed 19 years ago, hopes their performance will inspire the youngsters who take part in the group’s acrobatic and street dance classes. Places are available in the Tuesday night classes which run at the Milton Garden Estate in Shakspeare Walk, Stoke Newington and are free for children on the estate.

Lina said: “We got such a fantastic group of professional dance and circus performers working our youth programme, who are all passionate about sharing their skills with the next generation. It allows everyone to learn something new and take pride in their body and their creativity.”
