Students were encouraged to ‘change the world’ on the day that the first female Bishop of London paid a visit to the Urswick School.
Bishop Sarah Mullally took a tour of the Paragon Road school on Monday and spoke with staff and students, including Olga Arslan who has recently applied for and been interviewed for a place at Cambridge University.
She had encouraging words for Year 11 pupils taking mock exams, listened to prayers specially written in her honour by students and was greeted with applause wherever she went in the school.
Bishop Sarah, who was officially sworn into the role on the same day as her visit to Urswick, urged students to ‘change the world’.
Richard Brown, Headteacher said: “This was an historic day for the church and an honour for the school.
“Already we see Bishop Sarah as our bishop and I am sure as she meets other people in the city, everyone will feel the same way.”
