A pair of school choirs came together on Monday to share a message of hope at a Holocaust memorial ceremony.

Children from The Olive School and Simon Marks Jewish Primary School have been rehearsing together since the new year to polish their harmonies for a performance of the Michael Jackson song ‘Heal The World’ at Hackney Town Hall.

Hosted by the speaker of Hackney Cllr Soraya Adejare, the ceremony included readings and the lighting of candles.

The two neighbouring schools are linked through the ‘three faiths forum’ and have previously worked together on a variety of projects to help the children build friendships.

Olive School principal Caterina Park said: “Students have enjoyed learning a new song with their friends at Simon Marks. The ceremony provided a timely opportunity for us to come together with a message of love and brighter futures.”
